Middle School Art Department

Here at the middle school we house grades 5th-8th. During the 2015-2106 school year 5th grade has art 3 times a week for the entire year. The majority of 6th and 8th grades are divided by half year courses, having art once or twice a week.  7th grade classes that have art are scheduled for various times during the week. Please see below for curriculum.

We strive to instill a life long love of art and to possibly create future career artists.

Project Files and Packets for 5th Grade

5th grade artists focus on various Elements and Principles of Art & Design, ELA and Math skills.  We have begun to incorporate STEAM into our curriculum with the introduction of Computer Science, Coding,  Chemistry and Physical Science. In room #1 there is a heavy emphasis on academic vocabulary and building an educated artist.  We work daily with our scholars to produce artist who can speak about their art, arti history and their art making.

We spend half the year focusing on the Pop Art Movement, and incorporate a varity of Artists and styles in our discovery.
