WE HAVE FABULOUS ARTISTS AT LFH & MLK!

Elementary Art * LFH/MLK   (3rd-4th Sept.-Jan.31, K-2 Feb.-June 24)

(half year art, once a week, 45 min classes, approx. 20 sessions each grade)

WHY ELEMENTARY ART?

Elementary art is an adventure in creative learning from basic stages of scribble to more advanced stages of deliberate marks of expression. Every art class is a learning experience in visual perception, creative problem solving, and teamwork as we discover and strengthen our artistic abilities and creative talents.

WHAT ARE OUR OBJECTIVES?

Elementary art education is the foundation, the structure, the springboard needed to achieve well rounded scholars who can go on to secondary art education with skill, confidence and a passion for a creative approach to education and live outside a classroom. We infuse math, science, history, culture, reading and writing in every art lesson and we encourage working through each mistake by not giving up and envisioning new possible outcomes. It is an absolute joy to watch how our scholars simplest of creations blossom into something unexpected and beautiful.

WHAT IS OUR AIM?

Our aim is to develop a sense of appreciation, neccessity and acceptance for the arts in our everyday curriculum and in society. Scholars move at their own pace through their art making process as each of our skill sets, experiences, discoveries and comfort levels are different.  Our choice based style of expression in our art class allows for a positive art making experience and unique works of art.

"Our scholars love art class and I love helping them find themselves each and every day!" Mrs.Moise

WHAT PROCEDURES WILL STUDENTS FOLLOW?

Scholars will learn to properly and safely care for, use and hold basic tools such as scissors, paint brushes, markers, and glue. Scholars will learn how to brainstorm and plan out a preliminary idea in their sketchbook, organize and respect art materials needed for each project, physically create balanced and creative works of art, as well as respond to and explain their art and process verbally and with collaberative and individual writing.
